My project will be used for play-based centers that will help develop social and emotional skills, along with alphabetic knowledge and phonemic awareness, during our center time. During center time, my students will work as a team with Gear Builders to create chain reactions. They will use Engineer-A-Coaster activity kit to cooperatively make exciting roller coasters. The Magnetic Alphabet Maze is sure to be a class favorite as they learn phonemic awareness and letter names. Twist-Turn Letter Word Builders sets will give them an opportunity to practice CVC skills! The fun and engaging materials like the Alphabet Rockets and Find the Letter Activity Center are geared to help improve fine motor skills. Hands-on activities will help keep my students on task during centers. Play-based center activities develop important social and emotional skills through inquiry and discovery. The relationships children develop with their peers through play have been disrupted due to the pandemic. The materials I requested will help develop positive, collaborative relationships while strengthening Math, Reading, and STEM skills.
