In this increasingly digital world, we sometimes forget that students are kids who still love to create things with their hands. We forget that touching and feeling not only fosters learning, but a love for learning. I have seen this first-hand this year with my geography students. They crave experiences and connection, not facts and worksheets. Students need a break from the digital world! The supplies I am asking for gives them a chance to get off the computer and create things from around the world. We could make rune stones like the ancient vikings, origami animals, and Egyptian mummy masks. These types of projects bring a real cultural connection to kids who have never been out of their state, much less visited a foreign country. My students are future world changers; that's our class motto. If they are going to do that, they have to learn to care about the world, and with your help, we can make that happen!
