Center for Today, Creates a World to Play, sets the tone for our classroom enviroment. Our firstgrade classroom is seeking to set up six stations of four individuals at each station. Our stations are designed to host various hands on, interactive, fully engaging manipulatives, kinetics, magnetic blocks, paint, mathematics and phonetic games, etc. to assist in the best possible first grade learning experience. Many of the students in my class have been home doing virtual school the past two years. That means for all of Pre-K, and most of Kindergarten, they missed out on some of the fundamental building blocks that students before them were able to experience. I would so greatly appreciate this invaluable opportunity to surprise my students with a classroom that entails a more hands on learning approach. We live in a such a technological time period with video games, ipods, and chrome books that I'd like to give them more of an old school experience through manipulatives and play. Many of my students have had little to no social interactions with peers or classmates for so long. I'm hoping by implementing centers as part of their daily routine, they can improve and gain the necessary social skills to grow and flourish and develop friendships that begin to blossom into lasting life long friendships.
