Over the last three years my second graders have endured so many trials they should not even have to experience until they are older or even at all. They deserve many things but one thing they deserve is a hands on learning experience that so many have missed out on due to the pandemic. Hands on learning is crucial in an elementary setting so there are a few things that if I had them in my classroom, it would help my students experience school the way it should be- in person and FUN! This is something they have lacked for far too long because of the pandemic. One of the hands on items that I know my students would love is the hands on writing prompts. They love to write and be creative and want to have positive reinforcement when writing because they have hardly been taught how to write in the past because teaching writing virtually is difficult. I truly believe this will help them tremendously and encourage stronger writing skills. Another hands on learning item desired was the magnetic writing boards. These can be used universally for reading, writing, and math activities and will help keep my students engaged and can also be used with the magnetic letters requested as well. These are just a couple of examples of how I can use all of these hands on materials in my classroom. I hope if I am able to get these items I can make a positive impact in these kids' lives and give them a positive outlook on learning that this pandemic has nearly taken away from them in their short learning career thus far. Please help make a difference!
