Teaching today is part paper and pencil and part technology. In my classroom I help my students develop hand eye coordination and dexterity while using a pencil and paper. However, in our ever changing world, my students also need to learn and develop their use of technology. Having a full set of tablets will allow my students to enhance their technological abilities, as some students do not have access to computers or tablets in their home. Right now, I have to borrow 5 computers a day from a cart in the school. This does not allow for full classroom learning, which is a hindrance in an environment where diagnostic testing is all computer based. When students are not given the opportunity to navigate and practice computer learning on a daily basis, they get nervous when an evaluation takes place. I want to help my students build confidence in the use of computers. Having a full set of tablets in our classroom will allow me to incorporate daily technology and develop that confidence.
