One of the most effective ways of teaching students to read notes and rhythms is through the mallet instruments. The students experience learning through touch, sight, and sound. In my school, I have the opportunity to teach all 5th grade students music as well as being the one to encourage participation in band. Everyone likes to play the drums, so I utilize that interest in teaching the music behind just hitting on drums. The materials that I am requesting will give more students the hands on experience needed in my classroom.
