It is my goal to bring a hands-on learning experience to my students. Giving students opportunities to learn in different ways, gives teachers the ability to reach more students. As students learn new concepts, the ability to use manipulatives provides a way for abstract ideas to become more concrete. The benefit of hands-on learning is that it engages both sides of the brain. When a student is able to listen, visualize, and then test their reasoning, it can enhance their learning experience. The reward for me as a teacher is when I see the lightbulb turn on and a concept is understood. The confidence the child receives from the experience is life-changing.
