As a teacher in a functional classroom, I have seen how time out of their regular school routine has impacted the sensory needs of students with various disabilities. Physical activities such as rocking, jumping, swinging, and spinning can help students gain the sensory input they need to self regulate in times of stress and anxiety. This is where wobble chairs come in. Students who need sensory input, have trouble sitting still, and have trouble focusing, often find it easier to sit and focus on academic tasks when they have the type of freedom of movement these chairs allow.
