As a kindergarten teacher I feel that since COVID-19, students have lost their social skills. Teachers had to focus on social distancing students in their classroom. This limited group activities. STEM activities like puzzles and counters will allow students to communicate, problem solve and gain knowledge from their peers. Young child learn best through play and STEM activities offer learning through play. I would use the kitchen to allow students to role play with their peers. This would allow students to have unstructured play through kitchen center and the stem activities I selected. I'm excited to bring play back into the classroom through small group. I look forward to the little minds being engaged with one another. This will provide students tools to achieve social skills COVID-19 has hindered.
