The micropipettes will help my students advance their scientific knowledge in the classroom through visual and kinesthetic learning experiences. The kinesthetic learning experiences in science have been conducted intermittently, so that we could adhere to COVID-19 precautions. However, kinesthetic learning experiences are vital for a full comprehensive learning experience. For instance, we begin our school year by discussing scientific measurements, as well as identifying laboratory equipment and their functions. The students will use the micropipettes in a hands-on approach, via laboratory experiments, to help reiterate and apply those concepts. Then, we will continue to use them when we enter our discussions of DNA and genetics, as we will discover how to extract DNA from cheek cells. Finally, we will use them as we discuss antibodies and antigens. Ultimately, this equipment will help the students achieve the full learning experience.
