The table, chairs, and games will help give my students gain a space to learn how to play together in a supportive way. Peer to peer learning has been hard to achieve the last 2 years and some of those social-emotional skills that 4th graders normally have are lacking or need more support. Games are a great way to build these skills, but I need a space that allows for game play. My students are very loving and invested in each other, but often lack the experience to know how to help. With a table large enough for game play, and places to sit around it comfortably, I would have a space which encourages peer to peer interaction through structured skill building and play to provide essential practice to overcoming the gaps in reading and social learning created by the recent pandemic. These materials would be used daily for centers and community building relating to reading and social emotional learning.
