As a result of the pandemic my young students have missed exposure to books read to them. With a listening center in our classroom, they will explore different genres of children's books. Listening to books read aloud will prepare my students with important experiences and knowledge for making sense of the written text. When my students listen to books read aloud, they will see words on the pages of a book come alive in a fluid expressive way. This will also give my students an important introduction to listening, a skill they must master in order to learn to read.
