Our students are getting an opportunity to learn about the Great Depression, Jim Crow segregation and the struggles of racism through the Logan family in the classic 1960 novel "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry." Taking place in Mississippi in the 1930's, this story will give my students an opportunity to not only learn about life in the deep south for an African American family in the early 1900's but it gives them a glimpse into the the fear, shame, love and hope through the eyes of the 9 year old Cassie and her family.

About my class
