Reading is important when acquiring a language. It's also critical in building vocabulary and improving literacy in first and second languages. Students read class novels, but they also get to choose their own books to read during Free Voluntary Reading time. Many days are spent just reading as a stress relief during a crazy week. The book shelf will be a great way to display books and hook students in by seeing the covers of books. Bean bag chairs will provide comfy seating and the storage will be used for costumes and props used during readers theatre! Acquiring language needs to be fluid and fun! Acting out the book increases comprehension and is engaging for all students.
