Dissecting allows students a unique experience that can give them an appreciation and understanding of Anatomy. Seeing different organs and understanding how they work inside an animal's body can help them understand their own body. For students wishing to pursue a profession in science, dissecting can provide a valuable, hands-on experience. Dissecting in high school gives them an opportunity to become familiar with tissues, organs, organ systems, and techniques that a surgeon might study. Dissection is a memorable time and instruction in science at the high school level. It gives them an opportunity to learn how their own bodies work.
