My list of requested books focus on notable Native and Black Americans who were influential to Oklahoma History, as well as providing windows and mirrors for my students to see themselves in the literature that we share in class. These books are necessary for expanding my student's learning of the history of Oklahoma, as well as seeing how the history of our state is connected to the history of our nation. Due to the learning loss during the pandemic, many of my students need additional support in becoming stronger independent readers, which is why I have selected an expansive set of decodable readers. These decodable readers can be used during focused, small group instruction and individual tutoring. These readers can also be a connection between school and home and provide a way for parents to encourage reading support.
