Formative assessments and hands-on-learning are huge tools in the math classroom that encourage creativity and independent thinking. By providing my students with basic supplies such as scissors, notebooks, and pencils they will have what they need to accomplish these tasks without having to worry about spending their own money. It is easy for students to become distracted when they aren't working, or having to wait for another student to finish before they can start a task. This is a barrier I face regularly without having a full classroom set of scissors, or dry erase supplies. If each student had their own in the room we could increase productivity and minimize disengagement during activities that are designed to have them at peak performance. The products I have selected will allow me and my students to spend less time worrying about if we can do projects and more time enjoying the projects that allow them to internalize concepts.
