I would love to have a comfortable spot in my literature classroom for reading. Many students enjoy reading when it is encouraged with the right atmosphere. So many students today spend too much time on their phones, tablets chromebooks, etc, and have forgotten the enjoyment of a good book. A comfy couch along with bookshelves to place books which are relevant to them would give my students an incentive to read.
The Covid pandemic has brought students a lot of "down" time that they aren't accustomed to having, but using this downtime to read books that affect their lives would be a great benefit to their mental health and overall educational experience. What better way to learn to spend some of this time than by diving into a good book that can be taken home and continued there on virtual days? This would teach students to enjoy reading so that when they are at home, they have that habit already developed.
I would also love to have a large set of brushes for my art class. My students have used their art as a way to express their frustrations with the pandemic, but brushes are very expensive. I have been purchasing them with my own salary for awhile now.
