Our classroom culture is centered around becoming curious, strong readers. For twenty minutes every day we engage in Wild Reading where students enjoy a book, tell a classmate about the book they’re reading, give whole class “book commercials”, and add books they’ve discovered to their To Be Read list. Students are eager to read once they’ve finished their work! As an educator I desire to give my students a diverse student library where books are windows and mirrors – windows into other cultures and experiences, and mirrors reflecting the lives of my students. Although my current second graders have had an atypical education experience due to COVID 19, they have developed a love for reading and love checking out books from our library. By donating to our project you will help provide a diverse student library and other resources to partner with me in cultivating a classroom of lifelong learners.
