Out in the Panhandle, we are used to working with almost nothing. I believe these materials, especially the microscopes and dry erase boards, will enhance the learning experience in many ways. As I said earlier, most of my student prefer hands on methods of learning because that is what they have grown up with. I want to lean on that method of learning as much as I can. As a first year teacher, I am still learning the ropes. However, I can see that to these students science and math have not been fun or interesting before I was here. I want to try to make it a goal to reverse those thoughts, but also have them learn and take away as much from the class as they can. I plan on using the microscopes to perform some little labs and activities. One material I am really excited for is the dry erase boards. I have a couple review activities planned where they can write the problem and answer on the boards in a competition. Whatever the scenario, any type of material or something new will keep these students interested in staying in school.
