Thank you for giving me to opportunity to showcase some of our students at the our virtual academy. Our school was created at the onset of the Covid pandemic to address the needs of students in a virtual setting. We continually adjust and rethink our model as the pandemic progresses. We currently have a blended learning center where we meet with a small number students each week to work on projects that require physical presence. This year at the virtual academy, I have been able to introduce my pk-5th grade students to basic coding and robotics theory. We currently use Sphero Bolt and Bee Bot robots. I would like to streamline our robotics program to align with the Lego FIRST League method. The FIRST league has a cohesive and progressive system of learning that engages students in competition with and collaboration with other students all over the world. I have teacher friends that are currently using the FIRST League and they have rave reviews of the program. These 2 Mindstorm robots would give my students an introduction to the program and inspire interest in coding and robotics.
