A growing need in my fourth grade classroom is books for my classroom library. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, my students reading levels are slightly lower and my classroom library could use a wider variety of books on different levels. When students read on their own level, they enjoy reading more and grow more confident in their abilities. It would benefit my fourth grade students to have a larger selection of genres and reading levels. When students feel confident and have a wide selection of reading material to choose from, their reading levels will improve dramatically and they will find the love of reading. A few new reading carpets would also benefit my students because it allows them a more comfortable place to sit or lay to read their book. Desks/chairs can get uncomfortable after a while, so allowing them to read on the reading carpet helps them to relax and enjoy a good book.
