My project will help my students have more of an interactive classroom as well as being able to engage my students when they are working from home with technology upgrades for my classroom. My classroom needs updated visuals, and I want to make my room more interactive for our students at home. It is hard to keep them engaged with basic lessons at home, and these items will make objectives more relatable if I can reach them on their level. I am hoping this will make their year just a little bit better by being a warmer and more welcoming room.
The marquee and led dry erase board will offer updates in class as well as inspirational quotes and messages. The markers and letters will aid in that. I have put numerous posters that directly relate to United States history as well as Oklahoma History. I have never been able to update the posters and visuals in my classroom.
The microphone, headphones, light, and document camera will be used for when we have Zoom meetings and distance learning. I only have one pencil sharpener and it is a manual one this would allow students to not touch the sharpener because of the Covid-19 outbreak. I chose a map of Native American homelands and a territorial map of Oklahoma to show where the nations came from and where they settled. We do not have the ability to go to their cultural centers due to Covid-19.
The ability to make my subject tangible for students is always a difficult one. I use a set of Chromebooks in class that we use for interactive lessons, but these things will help my students see themselves in the people we study and when they look around the classroom. It won't be too sanitary.
