To help my students learn amid the pandemic, a listening center will enhance the reading center that I have already created. My students love to go to this center and choose from a variety of books. It is a comfy area with a rug, bean bag, pillows, and an assortment of books that are associated with our unit of study. There are many benefits to listening to stories that will help my students on their journey to becoming independent readers. They will be introduced to books above their reading level and new genres. It will help build new vocabulary and model fluent reading. To bring my dream learning activity to life, I'd love to get a comfy listening couch, cd player, and headphones. My students already possess the excitement that comes with reading a book. This will only enhance that excitement by adding more opportunities.
