These books give the students the opportunity to see that they can become a reader. It opens doors to reading as they begin with picture books. Young readers can have a great start by understanding pictures, settings, moods, characters before words are introduced. As words are introduced, these students will then add a new level of reading that gives them the next step to becoming independent readers. This leads to being successful in the classroom. These books will be used on an individual basis in the classroom, in group time with guided practice, and sent home as a source for reading for those who do not have books.

About my class
