While virtual learning is becoming more commonplace, some students just do better with hands-on instruction. Because of COVID-19 and the implementation of virtual learning, students are not able to have these hands-on experiences that make learning meaningful and intentional. I often see concepts come alive most when my students are able to put into practice what they have read and learned. It’s for this reason that I think having a class set of Legos will excite the students and enhance their learning. I anticipate many activities incorporating LEGO projects, from area and perimeter in math to mass and weight in science to logic and reasoning in language arts. Across the board, I see benefits. I am excited to see their reaction when they come to class with a LEGO project to complete, and then see it directly correlate to the lesson for the day.
