This year, amid the pandemic, I have an extremely high number of kindergarten students with weak hand muscles that affect pencil grasp and eye-hand coordination. To help my students develop this muscle, I will use this Stand-Up Brick-Building activity in a center. This fine motor activity will definitely help build hand muscles, but also strengthen the core by standing and squatting to get more bricks which also makes this a gross motor activity. Developing a strong core is very important, it helps students focus and is exceedingly vital for all aspects of learning.
