To help my students learn amid the pandemic, I could use the STEM activities to allow my students to have more hands-on experiences with science and technology that will build into their collaboration and critical thinking skills. I can use the reading centers during small group sessions as a fun, hands-on way to reinforce reading concepts and build knowledge of those concepts to be used in whole group activities.
To make an upcoming unit more engaging, my students would love to have hands-on manipulatives and games that tie to reading and science skills that we are discussing in the classroom. My students love STEM activities and would like to have options that would go with science units as well. They are also very competitive, so reading games that tie to different concepts will be a fun way for them to reinforce skills they may be lacking or need extra practice on and build their background knowledge so lower readers can confidently contribute in whole class collaborations and activities.
To bring my dream learning activity to life, I’d love to get more hands-on activities that are fun for kids in the learning environment. I want my students to be actively engaged and learn in fun group-type activities. The pandemic has caused social separations, as well as academic gaps, and I believe through hands-on group experiences, I can bridge those gaps in engaging, collaborative ways.
