In my class, my students are taught to seek out diverse texts that will show them how to cope, explore, and learn from the different experiences of others. To meet the needs of all my students, we need a vast array of text types and levels. This will expose my students to the world of reading, and shape them into well-rounded young adults. My ultimate hope is that my students will find a love for reading, discover that they are capable of accomplishing great things, and find that they possess the skills to make a positive difference in the world. We learn better about the world around us through the literature we experience. In order to produce well-rounded students, my goal is to surround them with books that pique their interests and engage their inquiry. I specifically picked a mixture of books from various genres that teach different perspectives, as well as offer readers different structures such as n and graphic novels. This will allow students of multiple levels to read and grow in my classroom.
