The requested resources will directly relate to helping my students advance their academic learning or overall well-being in light of COVID-19 by being able to walk into a welcoming and nurturing environment. Studies have shown that as much as 60% have symptoms of anxiety and depression due to the pandemic. My job as a teacher is to alleviate that stress and make learning comfortable and fun. By incorporating a “cozy corner” with a rug and flexible seating into my classroom, children can come in and have that at home feeling, but still learn while participating in hands-on projects. It has been proven that if children that are more comfortable and happy at school they will show greater strides in learning. I want this for my classroom! Students will be able to collaborate and solve problems, work on projects, or just hang out and read, all the while feeling safe and secure and “at home” in the cozy corner. My students so deserve and need this!
