Utilizing flexible seating will help keep my students separated at an acceptable distance. Sitting in desks surrounds them with other students and doesn't allow them to keep a safe distance. I can arrange other seating types so they can distance themselves. I have several students who are prone to anxiety and giving them the freedom to choose where and how they sit is a way I can help alleviate some of their worries. I have two non desk seats that they can use now, and I have discovered that when they are more comfortable where they are sitting, they tend to have better focus and are a little more motivated to learn. The items I have chosen will help give my students a little more control over their environment and help it to be a more positive atmosphere. The wobble seat will help those with the wiggles while still able to focus. The floor seats and rugs will give those who are more comfortable on the floor a place to do that, and the bean bags are comfy seats for anyone who would just prefer not to sit in a desk. The lap desks will benefit all of the students by giving them a surface to work on with all of these seating types. All of these items will help my student safely distance themselves from one another that desks don't allow for.
