All of my students want to socialize and play with other children at school. Center time is where they can do this, while I pull and work with small groups or individual students. Play-based and hands-on learning is an essential part of our classroom. I have chosen a variety of items to add to our centers that will spark their interest and keep them actively learning. The materials selected will support their fine and gross motor development, math and language arts skills, sensory development, writing skills, creativity, and social/emotional growth, as well as problem-solving skills. The wobble chairs will allow my students to choose flexible seating for their busy bodies and help them strengthen core muscles as they rotate to different centers. They are only four and five years old, and their little bodies and brains need a lot of movement!
Kids learn by doing, and the importance of a developmentally appropriate education is more important now than ever before as these children are embarking on challenging times with the pandemic. Social play outside of school has been haltered from COVID-19.
