For the first time in 20 years, I am teaching students that are lower level math students or just need extra practice in a math course before they move on. What I have found in education is that we sometimes tend to focus using advanced technology on the advanced student. Our upper level math courses are usually equipped with graphing calculators. This year has opened my eyes to see a great need for graphing calculators in math classes where students struggle or sometimes rely on a crutch to be successful. Having a graphing calculator in the students' hands could help build their confidence in doing higher level math problems and could turn their struggles into successes.
