My students have experienced a large learning gap due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Many were at home or online learning and did not have quality engagement and instruction in reading. Some are just now developing an interest in reading and selecting their own reading choice. My students will be able to escape to a comfortable place to engage in reading. Students enjoy selecting from books available to read on their own from our classroom library. Being a first year teacher, the library is lacking some much needed items to make the area more comfortable and appealing to students. Our classroom collection of picture books is limited and students have requested more challenging adventures through chapter books. Having a comfortable classroom library and a larger variety of choices for students will not only excite my students about reading but also keep them engaged.
