I believe it is so important to discover and write down your goals, dreams and aspirations and what better place to keep them than a special journal that belongs to you. In our class we get to have fun discovering all the opportunities available to each student while they are in high school as well as long after their high school days are over. We cover an abundance of information and I would love for my students to be able to reflect on the topics covered long after they have left my class.
During the course of the year, each of my students set short term and long term personal, academic and career goals. After their goals are written, each student completes an action plan that coincides with their goals. It is a privilege of mine to be able to foster the conversations that inspire and challenge my students while also encouraging them to see what their future could look like.
Like so many around the world, my students have had to navigate learning during COVID-19. I am so proud of all they have accomplished, both big and small while enduring so much. It is during our ICAP class they share about activities, courses, teachers, family members and friends that impact them daily and who were and still are a huge part of helping them navigate being a student during a pandemic. It's without a doubt that their experiences during COVID-19 have shaped them in so many ways. The events and individuals they share about in class daily, have inspired them and shown them they can rise to any challenge. I never want them to forget that! I can't wait to see what is in store for the future leaders that are in my classroom.
