The third-graders I have in my class this year have had to overcome many obstacles in their young elementary lives. The pandemic has caused them to have an experience that has been far from ordinary. There have been many disruptions in their learning the past two years. I would like to find ways to better help them adapt and be successful despite these experiences. We are a self-contained classroom with many different abilities and interests. I think the world of these children, and I would love to provide them with the best learning experiences possible. I have taught for nineteen years, and I know that many of my resources are outdated and need to be replaced. I would love to provide my students with new dictionaries and thesauruses to enrich their vocabulary instruction. I believe that some students learn more effectively with hands-on materials, so I have included age appropriate math manipulatives in my request. Along the same lines, I have also requested science kits for my students to explore. I feel like science should be participated in, not just read about. I also have included some STEM activity sets. With students being in and out of the classroom so much the last two years, I have lost many of my library books. I would like to replace many of our favorites, so that these wonderful stories can be enjoyed by students again. I have tried to include resources and manipulatives that will allow my students to become active participants of our lessons. I want them to enjoy school and develop a love for learning. I also want to be able to better focus on each individual student's needs. I am hoping that having these resources will allow me to provide resources to a classroom of lifelong learners!
