As of now, my students do not have a classroom library where they can select books and comfortably read away from their desk. The items I have selected consist of culturally conscious literature, a giant rug for them to lay and relax on while they read, and some seat cushions for them to use if they want to sit and read as well. The binders are to store all of their reading logs that they must fill out as part of their curriculum and we use it to keep track of how far the students advance in their reading levels and development. During our class time my students have time for what we call "centers". They can use this time to do puzzles, play with manipulatives, or read a book. While most of the students do enjoy reading we only have a small stack of books that are stored in a cardboard box which most of the students have already read. This project is going to create the perfect center for all my eager readers. Please help make this dream come true!
