Research has proved that math and science are subjects that need hands on activities in order to grasp abstract concepts. As a new teacher, I believe that my best lessons are credited to the opportunities to physically work with a concept rather than passively discuss and practice. My students beg to work with learning. I believe this group, and many more to come, deserve the opportunity to work with a concept. I believe that manipulatives, visual aids, and other learning tools should have a constant attendance in my student’s educational journey. I am a new teacher looking to build her catalog of teaching essentials in order to promote this classroom environment class set of math manipulatives, a teacher demonstration kit, labeled rulers, class set of calculators, dry erase pouches, chart paper/markers, allow students to physically and visually work with a concept alongside of my teaching. The kitchen scales, cordless drill, class set of graduated cylinders, building tiles, and STEM building blocks allow science to come alive to students by truly engaging in a messy and authentic science atmosphere. Finally, the photo keeper cases and rolling utility cart are storage items to create hands on learning centers for both math and science subjects. These storage items will be used to house materials that will be used in daily lesson and hands on activities.
