Every child deserves reading success! My students will benefit from having an abundance of resources and choices to practice their reading. I plan to use the touch-phonics manipulatives to teach the skill for the day in small groups. We will use the manipulatives to practice sounds, make words, and practice phonics rules. The decodable readers and touch-phonics manipulatives will help build confidence, and gain a love for reading. A decodable text will follow the phonics lesson in which most of the words contained in the text will have been taught. By doing this, young readers will learn that both the alphabetic principle and phonics work. The knowledge and understanding that words can be decoded will unlock the world of books for my students!
