In Pre-K the majority of our lessons are about how to learn and interact with our peers. Our greatest social and emotional lessons come through play. The tools we use in our play need to be fun and engaging. The pandemic has diminished students’ socialization. The need for social distancing only allows students to interact with one other class throughout the day. They are losing opportunities to interact with many different personalities. I want to give my students as many opportunities within the classroom to practice their social skills. Centers are a great time for socializing. The addition of Playmobil zoo, hospital, school and playhouse sets would enhance our experiences during centers. The Playmobil sets offer a concrete and personal experience to help children connect their learning with their personal world. These items will not only provide social skill practice but further allow exploration of our social studies and science themes.
