While distance learning has been better than not meeting at all, it has greatly limited learning in the science classroom. My students thrive with hands-on learning. I try to have as many labs and activities as I can to help enhance their learning experience. Over distance learning, I can demonstrate the principles of physics, but they do not have the opportunity to engage with them. Through this new equipment, my students’ opportunities will be extended and their learning experience greatly enriched. Physics is a subject to be experienced. They can learn the formulas and do the math, but until they see physics in action, they cannot always fully grasp it. So much of this experience has been lost through distance learning due to Covid and even affected the students’ attitudes toward learning. This new equipment will help breathe new life into their learning experiences.
