We are currently learning about the internal and external structures of animals and plants. They think this part of the fourth grade state curriculum is the best since they love animals and plants. I have been using images printed from the internet and materials that I made. It would help my students to use real materials such as live plants and fish that they can explore and learn how they move, eat, grow, etc. We also need lab coats while we are learning about plants and animals so our regular clothes won't get soiled. We are also learning about empathy, kindness, and emotional management. I believe that it is necessary for students to learn about these to make the world a better place. Students are using printed materials from the internet or borrowed items from the school library. It would be nice to have a permanent classroom set of SEL such as flashcards and books. These would help my students grasp and apply SEL concepts to their real lives.
