The sketchbooks will give the students a place to keep all of their drawings that they are assigned in class and an opportunity to sketch on their own time. Without the sketchbooks students can only rely on paper that is given to them during class time. Paper is given out sparingly since there are high numbers of students in Specials classes. Loose paper often gets forgotten and misplaced, and students lose drawings that they work very hard on. Students are given the opportunity every Friday to break away from any other work that is going on in class and focus on fun sketch prompts, activities, and videos. Students are given the chance to challenge their imaginations and improve upon their drawing skills. They often look forward to these days and love to joke about what they have drawn and show their friends. Each quarter the walls of the classroom become filled with drawings that students start doing on their own time and want to share. Students try to stop into the classroom and retrieve extra sketch paper, but due to a limited yearly supply, paper cannot always be given out. These sketchbooks would take care of that problem and give these students something that can be their own over the school year. Aside from the sketchbooks, several classes are displaced outside of the art room due to limited art rooms and increasing yearly numbers of students. Having to teach art from a cart limits the types of projects students can participate in due to the mobility of supplies. A mobile drying rack will give these students the opportunity to take part in painting projects outside of the art room.
