By having a classroom carpet, my students will be more engaged in learning. They will each be able to have an assigned spot allowing them to focus on their learning. This carpet will help encourage a sense of community in our class while allowing each student to share their voice in conversation. These students have missed out so much on being able to have a class discussion where they all sit together and feed off of each other’s questions and answers. Having a classroom carpet with foster the type of community we have been working on creating together in our classroom. My students love being able to move around the classroom to complete assignments and implementing more flexible seating allows them to do that. They will be able to focus on assigned tasks while getting to move and release energy. Movement while learning keeps the brain engaged and allows them to do their bests on their assignments. Flexible seating will also help keep negative behaviors down because they are able to get some movement in all day long.
