Struggling readers often need a variety of opportunities to practice before skills become automatic for them. In our classroom, we use a technology-based curriculum. The items I am requesting will provide hands-on manipulatives, learning games, and skill-based activities that will reinforce the learning objectives covered in our daily lessons. My students get so excited when I can provide them with a new game or activity that they can use not only to gain confidence in their reading abilities but also to practice their social skills, all while having fun! The reading resources requested in this project will help students practice some of the more difficult components of phonics such as vowel teams, digraphs, and blends. Resources from Teachers Pay Teachers come directly from those who know more than anyone what struggling readers need. I will focus on finding items that reinforce word recognition and language comprehension, the two biggest components of teaching kids to break the code of reading.
