To help my students learn amid the pandemic, we could benefit greatly from these rhythm, movement, and sensory materials. This pandemic has and continues to be difficult for us all, especially our youngest learners. Besides the extra difficulties and challenges that the pandemic has presented, many of our students have experienced traumatic situations within their families. Our school is devoted to providing a learning environment that is sensitive and accommodating to the needs of our children. We know that ALL children, especially those that have experienced trauma benefit greatly from rhythm, sensory integration and movement activities. This year the children seem to be in a much greater need of movement opportunities to help them focus on the academic requirements of Kindergarten. Besides having literacy and mathematical objectives included, the materials provided would be used to give our children structured opportunities to regulate their bodies and focus their energy. This would allow for the children to be more engaged and focused on their academic and cognitive development at the appropriate times throughout our day.
