So many opportunities were lost during virtual learning and social distancing due to the pandemic. These supplies will be used for group problem solving where students learn to share ideas and work together as a community of learners towards a common goal. I plan to use these resources to help students explore the alternative energy sources of wind and the Sun. Wind turbines have recently been erected near our school making this particularly relevant. We will learn how to harness wind energy and transform it into electricity. Solar energy will be transformed into mechanical energy. Additionally, we will study the food chain by observing and cataloging the contents of owl pellets. The activities these materials will make possible will give students experiences they can carry with them through life. They will remember that they might not reach their goal on the first try, but through collaboration and determination they can reach their goals.
