Students get better at math through practice. Traditional modes of practice are particularly isolating: either the student is literally alone at home (much more frequently these days) or they're working individually in class on paper. Vertical dry-erase boards turn math practice into a collaborative process. As they stand and work together, multiple students can observe and have input into how they solve problems. The non-permanence of their work means students are less afraid of mistakes, and corrections are as simple as wiping and trying again. It is one thing to encourage kids to learn from mistakes together, but it means a whole lot more when the equipment they use to directly promote this.
