Research has shown that students are more likely to learn the material presented to them if it’s presented in a way that is meaningful and/or interconnected to their interests. Our science and ELA lessons have been discussing ‘living’ and ‘nonliving’ things, and different animal species. Each academic quarter, we try to plan a field trip that is interconnected with the material we’re learning in class - we had hoped it could be build-a-bear. However, COVID restrictions plus other logistical elements have made a trip to build-a-near unlikely. It’s for this reason that we’d like to bring the build-a-bear experience to our classroom and give our kids a memory they’ll cherish forever.
