The intended use for this grant is to purchase a sensory table that allows several sensory objects to be introduced to the students. These sensory items will stimulate all five senses. Sensory play has a very calming effect on students and can allow them to become more focused. The sensory table will also help them develop fine motor skills like pinching, grasping, and pouring. These fine motor skills are very crucial for Kindergarten students because they are all fundamentals to writing. The table is an excellent way for students to use their social and critical thinking skills. It allows students to collaborate with each other gaining new vocabulary in a productive way. It will also allow them to ask a wide variety of questions to each other and experiment to see what the outcome is. The sensory table gives them a chance to have open ended play and use their imagination and creativity, which is very important for their overall development. The students are able to combine their imaginations and creativity and create something unique.
